HISTORY |
This is a house of Italianate design but less pretentious and more in the
vernacular mode. It is of frame construction with narrow clapboard
siding. It has extreme vernacular proportions, extended eaves with
brackets, and slightly arched window "eyebrows". The property had been in
the hands of the Baer family since the early 19th century. The father
Daniel built and owned the first grist mill on the creek which now
carries the family name. The 1884 History of Erie County lists the Baer
property as a good farm of 120 acres on which are many fine buildings. |
