HISTORY

Silk City Diners, a branch of Paterson Vehicle Company, commissioned the construction of the Lawrence Park Dinor in 1948. The diner was built at the company’s headquarters, shipped to Erie, and then rebuilt at the diner’s current site. It has been in continuous operation since the diner’s opening in 1948, with the exception of brief periods during ownership changes. The first owner of the Lawrence Park Dinor was Harold Curtis. Lawrence Park was a planned community built for the employees of the nearby General Electric Company plant. It was an ideal location for a simple diner.

Around 1960, the Lawrence Park Dinor was purchased by William and Jeanne Hammill. The new owners renamed the diner to the B&J Dinor. The Hammills owned the diner for a short period of time, and a succession of owners followed in subsequent years. The current owners, Becky and Rick Standley, purchased the diner in 2009. Sometime since the 1960s, the establishment was renamed the Lawrence Park Dinor.
